Digitalize the Guadalquivir

The AIRIS project is an initiative of the Port Authority of Seville to digitalize the Guadalquivir to improve navigation by implementing the RIS (River Information Service) European standard. Co-financed by the Connecting Europe programme, AIRIS deploys an advanced information system extending from Sanlúcar de Barrameda to Seville, to improve the management of river traffic through the exchange in real time of data gathered from sensors. It is run by the port community and agents in the Guadalquivir estuary, to supervise the channel and organize maritime transit.
