The Port of Seville is strategic for Europe. It is one of the principle nodes in the Core Network and foms part of the Mediterranean Corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), and also of the Atlantic Corridor with the navigable portion of the Guadalquivir, given the importance of inland navigation routes in Europe.
The Core Network consists of those elements of the general network which have the highest strategic importance to achieve the objectives of the European Union’s transport policy and they have the highest priority for actions taken using community support. In this sense, the Port Authority of Seville is a beneficiary of European funds and has promoted a series of initiatives and projects to improve navigation on the Guadalquivir Euroway (E-60-02), its multi-modal character, management of the railway traffic and innovation in logistics and industrial matters.
