In May 2013 the Port Authority of Seville signed a collaboration and cooperation agreement with the university of Seville and the Aquarium. This agreement established the basis for science and educational activities connected with the Guadalquivir estuary and its neighbouring areas, to expand our knowledge of our natural environment and to propose innovative solutions that ensure the management of the estuary in a context of ecological sustainability.
As part of this agreement, a number of research sub-projects have been created with the universities of Malaga, Huelva, Cadiz and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas. These studies derive from the need to manage the Guadalquivir Euroway sustainably, to increase activity at the port with the greatest possible environmental security and the firm commitment of the Port of Seville to raise awareness of the environment to contribute to better management of the estuary in the future.
